Halloween horror tale

It was a cold, dark Saturday night, just a day before the boring week of school begins. Living in a big house full of light and life the two siblings enjoyed every part of their garden and pool but always wondered why their parents left one little corner of an attic closed with a mysterious door that remained shut. It was the season of winter with a strong storm going on, Jane and her brother Peter were seated quietly by the shed counting days to Christmas. In midst of the winds calming down, the siblings decided to walk into the attic that happened to be a drywall they never went into. Adventures always seem exciting in school breaks. Going down the steep attic with a narrow wooden wall they balanced on so they would not fall through. This attic was quiet and unlighted and they always wondered why it remained closed for years. Tonight was the night they had a reason to explore their curiosity or perhaps, getting some shelter anywhereelse in this super storm. As they entered hurrying through the wet garden, Jane managed to be aware of the dangerous walk in the dark and stayed cautious but Peter lost his balance that made him instantly fall off the wooden edge yelling right through the deep hole of the attic. Jane shrieked and turned around to reach out for him however, within seconds she lost balance that led to a complete blackout. A short time later, her eyes opened finding herself unconscious lying on the dusty ground. It was so dark she could see practically nothing but unclear shadows. There was a great darkness and dirt all around her in a strangely smelling hole or space. She glanced to her left in shock to see her injured brother gasping for a breath. Jane sprung up with a somewhat feeling of a broken arm and painful limbs off to the wooden steps and screamed out for help. She heard voices, were they voices of help coming to them? No, these voices graduallypassed in highs and lows. She wondered confused in agony, is that mom and dad? Who or what is it? The voices turned intosongs, a melody in a spine-chilling way. Jane’s heart raced in fear at the speed of light. Music can be soothing but not below the surface of the ground where there isn’t a single living thing. As the choir like sounds came closer, Jane was petrified. Peter remained lying on the ground while Jane shivered with her hands on her ears blocking the horrific voices. In a few minutes,Jane felt a very icy hand on her ear; she gasped and realized her own hands are in front of her. The way Jane jumped was like never before and cried so loud that the voices unexpectedlystopped. She paused a moment and wiped off her tears looking around. Everything was quiet, as silent as the grave and the singing vanished. Surprisingly the storm calmed down too. With numerous broken bones Jane thankfully noticed a thick strand coming down the attic. It was like a savior sent down by God. Anyone down there would speculate who or where that strand suddenly appeared from being very sure that it was not there earlier. Being astonished, Jane tied the strand to her and Peter carefully not breaking the last hope of help. The scary fact of itbreaking, gave her chills and a pace of climbing like never before. Alas, they were both on top of the ground feeling a gush of breeze that blows right after a storm. Mom and Dad came running to them and with time the crowd gathered. Stepping into danger at that attic was a forbidden adventure the siblings took yet were saved from an unknown mystery that could have or has changed their lives. From that night onwards the attic was closed permanently until when, possibly forever. Jane was satisfied with Peter and her survival and learned to be cautious from now on. That night tucked in bed safe at home, Jane marveled about the singing voices. She was too scared to even think about the hands that touched her ears. Could that hand be the source that helped them with the strand, or was the hand trying to say something? Most importantly, will Jane ever try to go there again? Till then, good night for now!
